Jesse

Artist Statement

I’ve always enjoyed taking pictures, not necessarily when people or animals are posing.
Jesse was part of our writing group at Nan’s house. This photo that I took sums up how relaxed and chill she was with us. She was an important member and made the group feel complete.

Barbara–it takes your sensitive eye to capture this beautiful moment. I admire the way you see the world. And, thank you for including Jesse as a “member” of the writing group. Some of us treat animals as equals. Afterall, we are animals. Poet, Ada Limon, writes about community and says this, “I’m in community with animals and ancestors.” She lives in Kentucky and has written some touching horse poems. Also, Ada has just been named the new Poet Laureate of the United States!
